Upcoming server update that fixes login problems for some and fixes sign up emails.

Client update (0.11.49) as well:
- Should load lightly faster and overall have less connectivity problems
- Will warn users currently unable to play (Thanks to blackclaws)
- Will no longer ping when users quit IRC while a private message session is open (Thanks to yorick)

Ok, the server just put up has several fixes: 1. new user signup should work; 2. The game tries a wider variety of UDP ports when connecting players while hosting/joining games, which may make more people able to connect; 3. There is additional logging and statistics information to help us watch connection problems more closely.

Summary of where we are: we have a new server update that fixes many of the problems that players are having. Unfortunately, this new server crashes 5-15 minutes after switching to it. Last night we reproduced the crash on our separate test server, and we should hopefully be able to use those results to quickly figure out and test a fix today. We will update here in a few hours.

Today (Monday, February 1st) we are starting the switch to the new FAF server software that we’ve been working on for over a year. We’ve tested this software as much as we can “on our own”. I want to warn everyone that their will *almost certainly* be problems with the new server software. We simply don’t have enough people who can test and help us find every problem in advance.

Please note this update does *not* include the FAF mod (units/balance) beta update. We’ll hopefully do that later this week.

So, wish us luck, and we’ll keep you up to date on how things are going! While this may bring short term problems, it’s going to make things much better in the long run. It’s an investment in the future of FAF.
